Good evening Rapid City Garden Club!

We are off to a good start with our wreath making, with a total of 49 wreaths made this past week! Thank you to everyone who has come out so far to gather greens and make wreaths! Our goal is to average about 79 wreaths made per week, so we are in need of more volunteers each week. This is the sign up for our wreath/greens making days if you know ahead of time that you will be able to make wreaths a certain day. You can also show up impromptu, no need to sign up in advance!

We are still in need of openers and closers. It's not difficult and you don't need a whole lot of expertise or experience.  All the opener really needs to do is turn on the lights, turn up the heat and bring over a wagon load of greens from the Hort building next door.  (if you feel like starting a pot of coffee, that's a plus!)  8:30 AM would be ideal but 9:00 AM also works just fine.  Signing up to be an opener does not require you to stay all day or even all morning.  While it's easy to do, it's really important since some of our members who are diligent wreath makers have some physical limitations that make it difficult for them to get out and set up the greens and other supplies.

*If you're able to help as an opener, even one or two times this coming month, please send an email to rapidcitygardenclub@gmail.com and let us know the days that you are available.

*Signing up as a closer is also helpful and folks who are there making wreaths later in the day are often willing to help with closing. Closers typically need to make sure that the greens get put back in the bags and carted back out to the HORT bldg.  They also help by making sure that finished wreaths get hung up in the HORT bldg. too.  Otherwise, their big responsibility is making sure that the heat is turned down and everything electric is unplugged (Coffee, tea, glue guns) and that the lights are turned off.

Thank you again to everyone who has been helping out! We look forward to making some wreaths with you over these next few weeks!
