About the Garden
This shared partnership between the Rapid City Garden Club and the City of Rapid City showcases over 100+ trees as an Arboretum for education, beauty and reflection. Ralph Coe worked for the Soil Conservation Service as a long-time west-river resident. Memory Lane was established in 1979 as a granite wall memorial and trees to recognize deceased club members. Over the years the area has been made available to commemorate significant events for families, groups and individuals. Rapid City is designated a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation for 44 consecutive years. This recognition honors the city’s commitment to urban forest management and meets the four standards of the Tree City USA program: having a tree board or department, a tree care ordinance, an annual community forestry budget, and an Arbor Day Observance.
